We use the thermos bottles , hip flasks and coffee mugs everyday. The bottles are colorful, with beautiful decoration, but do you know how we make this happen.
In general there are two main steps:
1: Coating colors on bottles or mugs. There are color painting and powder coating two different methods. While powder is a more popular way, because powder coating is more durable, it's not easy to get scratch . That's why more and more bottles are powder coated now.
2: Put logo or artwork on bottles and mugs. There are several methods, mainly laser engrave, UV print, silk screen print, heat transfer print and emboss/deboss. But what's the difference between them?
Laser engrave: no set up cost, quick in production. But only can show one silver color, also can do black laser engrave, cost is expensive.
UV print: long :no set up cost, quick in production, can print colorful designs. relatively Expensive in pritting.
silk screen print: need one time set up cost, only can print simple colored design, most have been taken place by laser engrave.
heat transfer print: Need set up cost, suitable for qty more than 5000pcs, otherwise it's not economical to do heat transfer because of the high set up cost. most have been taken place by UV print.
Emboss/deboss: Need create mold for the artwork. Deboss /emboss on metal cost around 400USD, so not suitabel for small order ; Deboss /emboss on leather(mainly for whisky flasks) cost around 20USD;
